Okanagan gluten-free brewery Grey Fox has won gold at the 2023 Canadian Brewing Awards.
The brewery, which opened late last year in the Jim Bailey Industrial Centre on the Lake Country-Kelowna border, won top prize in the gluten-free category for its Quick Witted beer.

Belgian-style Witbiers are generally made with wheat, so Grey Fox founder and brewmaster Chris Neufeld had to find a way to make it without gluten. He softened the usual base malt of millet and rice with quinoa and added a bit of buckwheat to boost flavour. Traditional flavourings of orange peel and coriander were also used.
Neufeld attended the awards in Nova Scotia to receive the honour.
BC breweries had a strong showing at the awards June 3, with 39 breweries from the province winning 51 medals.
