Lake Country now has its first $10-a-day daycare spots.

The province has announced BGC Okanagan Lake Country location will have 68 spaces available starting in February for the ChildCareBC program.

“Affordable child care can be life changing,” says Grace Lore, BC’s Minister of State for Child Care.

Of the 68 spaces, there are:

  • four infant-toddler
  • 16 pre-school (starting at 2.5 years to kindergarten)
  • 48 school-age

BGC Okanagan, also known as Boys & Girls Clubs of the Okanagan, is a non-profit organization.

There are more than 12,700 $10-a-day spaces throughout the province.

BGC Lake Country’s location is at 9830 Bottom Wood Lake Rd., and it operates from Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. There’s more information about programming on their website.

The province says spaces in the $10-a-day program reduce the average cost of child care from $1,000 a month for full-time, centre-based infant care to $200 a month for the same service, saving families an average of $800 a month per child.
