What a season so far for the Okanagan’s premier hockey club!
In their last regular season game Saturday night, the Kelowna Rockets set a new franchise record for most wins in a season.
Friday’s win over the Vancouver Giants tied the past record of 51. And in Saturday’s rematch at home against Vancouver’s struggling WHL franchise, the Rockets’ 5-2 victory set the new record at 52. [A coincidental score for the night, 5-2 for No. 52!]
The Rockets have finished second overall in the WHL. They’ll face off against the Seattle Thunderbirds, who are seventh in the Western Conference, next week when the playoffs begin.
The record for wins in a season isn’t the only record the Rockets have chased this season. The team nearly tied the franchise record for most consecutive wins at home, which is 24. The team’s streak was snapped at 23, however, by the WHL’s No. 1 team: The Portland Winterhawks.
